The Madison Cuts Story
Come and see "Barber Lloyd"
"Barber Lloyd"
Lloyd Stokes — known to just about everyone as Barber Lloyd — has been cutting hair in Seattle for more than three decades. His skill comes from thousands of haircuts, years of teaching at his barber and beauty college, and a craftsman’s commitment to helping people look their best.
Lloyd isn’t just good with clippers; he notices details most barbers miss. His cuts are clean, consistent, and tailored to the person in his chair. Clients stay with him for years because he remembers what matters — the kind of hair you have, the style that fits your life, and the conversations that make the visit feel like catching up with an old friend.
He’s also a tinkerer at heart. When he sees a need, he builds something new — tools, techniques, and clever solutions that make the barbering experience better. Creativity is simply part of how he works.
Most of all, Lloyd carries an easy kindness. When cancer patients from the medical floors upstairs came to him during chemo, he gave free buzz cuts so they didn’t have to lose their hair in the hardest way. That kind of compassion has always been part of who he is.
Madison Cuts is more than just another barber shop
Madison Cuts has always been about more than haircuts. From the early days to today, the shop has been a comfortable, familiar spot where people come not just to look sharp, but to feel at home. Over the years, the neighborhood around us has changed, new buildings have gone up, and old spaces have found new purpose—but the spirit inside the shop has stayed the same.
What hasn’t changed is our commitment to real barbering. Clean cuts, good conversation, and a place where anyone can walk in and feel welcome. Whether someone is heading to work, an interview, a wedding, or just wants to feel like themselves again, we take pride in helping them walk out the door looking and feeling their best.
Madison Cuts continues to be a small piece of the community’s story, and we’re grateful to everyone who’s been part of ours along the way.
